The 2019 event has come and gone. The trails were in good condition and the sun was shining. Links to results and photos are below. Keep an eye out for registration to open later this year for the 2020 Spring Clean Run. You may also want to check out the Virtual Spring Clean Run option.

Course Description

This is a timed 5k trail run on single track trails at Southwestway park in Indianapolis, Indiana. It is NOT on pavement and there will be roots, rocks, logs, and mud. The course will start in an open field near the parking area. Runners will soon enter the woods though and for a little over a mile follow a ridge above White River. Next, you will drop down to the river bank and follow it for just over a mile more. Last, you climb up hill toward the finish line.

Spring Clean Theme

Please consider staying after you have completed the course to help clean up the park and trails, hence the theme of “Spring Clean”. This is NOT mandatory, Flashpoint Events will NOT be organizing clean up, and it is NOT part of the event. But, race director Aaron Phillips will be heading out on the trails at the completion of the event to pick up general refuse on or near the trail edge. You are welcome to join him or head out on your own. All participants will be given a reusable grocery bag with the event logo and this will be perfect for collecting trash. (Please note that event related trash and trail markings will be picked up by event staff)

Rules, FAQ’s, and other stuff you should know

  • Dogs will not be allowed to run with you during the event. Sorry, the insurance won’t cover it.

  • Strollers, of any kind, are not allowed during the event. Sorry, the trails are not conducive to strollers.

  • $25 registration through 2/28/2019. $30 registration after 2/28/19. Registration is nonrefundable and nontransferable.

  • Registration is limited to 200 individuals due to the small size of the park.

  • The race will be canceled only for extreme weather conditions or extremely wet trails. Flashpoint Events will make every effort to reschedule if the event is cancelled.

  • A second course different from what is described above may be used due to poor trail conditions.

  • Why would we cancel for extremely wet trails you ask? The answer is to be a good steward of the trails and to help maintain them in the best possible condition.

  • Given that this is considered to be a private event, the trails are considered closed to other users. That said, don’t be surprised to find non event participants on the course.

  • There will NOT be water on the course. There will be water at the start/finish line. If you will need water during the run, please bring your own water bottle or hydration system. This is in an effort to help reduce waste.

  • Trails will be marked with surveyors flagging tape. Follow the tape.

  • This will be a chip timed event. Results will be available immediately upon completion of the course and later online.

  • Photos will be available to download the day after the event.

  • This is a USA Track and Field sanctioned event.

Thanks to Indy Parks and Recreation (Indy.gov) and organizations like Hoosier Mountain Bike Association (HMBA.org) for helping to maintain the parks and trails!
